vzctl has a convert option. If you have a huge filesystem it might take a while... but I converted all of my containers to ploop a long while ago. No hacking involved.
Regardless of how you keep rewording the same argument, it is fairly plain to me that the issue with ploop isn't that it is lacking a killer feature. It already has several. Does every user care about them? No... but a LOT of people do. You just need more education and experience with them... and less excuse making. :) I have to admit it took a while before ploop grew on me and I decided to switch. I got more education and experience. :)
Conversely I ask you... what killer feature does simfs have to stick with it? It seems like your argument is basically, "because it was already there and people don't have to learn anything to use them". While that is true, it doesn't sound too compelling to me.
