Maybe you can change the download link to

https://github.com/checkpoint-restore/criu/archive/v3.16/criu-3.16.tar.gz

instead of

https://codeload.github.com/checkpoint-restore/criu/tar.gz/refs/tags/v3.16

The first link works with wget and creates the file criu-3.16.tar.gz
which is better than having a file on disk called 'v3.16'.
