That seems nothing prevents you to use v3.18 from
raspberry official github (if you want to).
At least, I gave it a shot with this kernel and it has worked:
https://github.com/raspberrypi/linux/tree/rpi-3.18.y

I'm not sure if anyone has a plan for that.

Anyway, I may have it in my todo list, but it's quite full of items,
so I can't say anything about the date.
