I've been using OpenVZ for a while now and I'm finding
that shutting down containers seems to take much longer than I would have
thought, based on how quickly they start up. I'm pretty sure it's not
related to the containers os, as I've tried killing every process in a container
immediately after sending the vzctl command to stop the container, yet it still
takes the same amount of time (sometimes 15-30 seconds compared to starting up
the container which takes 2-3 seconds max).

My guess at this point is OVZ is forcing a wait on
container stops.
