Lookinag at the /etc/apt/sources.list that IS IN the OS Template you linked to, it contains the exact same entries you want it replaced with.  Here is the contents of /etc/apt/sources.list from http://ftp.openvz.org/template/precreated/debian-5.0-x86_64.tar.gz:

deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian lenny main contrib non-free                                                                                            
deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian-volatile lenny/volatile main contrib non-free                                                                                          
deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian-security lenny/updates main contrib non-free

The only difference between it and what you want it replaced with is the order of line 2 and 3.  Does that matter?
