Requests/sec executed is considerable slower on OpenVZ kernel (factor 20 on Intel Modular Server).

Are you running the tests in a VE? I'd be curious to see your vz.conf file, and the output of /proc/user_beancounters for the VE you are running the tests on. Do you have quotas turned on?
