[Users] openvz naming conventions; numeric vs symbolic

No standard way.

I guess you can create a symlink; something like this:
vzctl set $VEID --name $VENAME --save
(cd /vz/root && ln -s $VEID $VENAME)

Same for /vz/private if you need it.
