Dear Paulo,
Vz8 is based not on mainline 4.18 but on RHEL8 kernel.
Red Hat does great job, their current RHEL8 kernel have ~15000 patches over mainline 4.18,
Red Hat fixes found bugs, updates drivers, packports most important functionality, carefully tested it and doing lot of other tasks to make the kernel rock stable for a quite long period of time. It is much better than any mainline LTS kernel.

Long time ago we did Vz kernel over original mainline kernel. We spend huge time for annoying driver issues, we must update drivers though we had no related hardware and we was not able to verify these fixes. We had broken netconsole -- it was our main troubleshooting tool -- and as result we was unable to get customers bugreports. We had lot of other issues. All these problems went away when we re-based on RHEL4 kernel. And we happy now, because we can inherit result of huge work of Red Hat kernel team.

Thank you,
	Vasily Averin
