Topic: restore --undump unexpected crash/reboot effect
We moved CT from one HOST to another yesterday and got a 'surprise!',
among all CT some of the CT involved are distribution ranging from
RH7.3 up to FC14 (34 altogether).
This CT purpose is to check distribution compatibility with our product
(nothing fancy in it, CT idle most of the time).
We discovered moving --online RH7.3 and RH8.0 CT (this 2 at least) make
the target host to crash/reboot, standard el5.5 CT are not making the
crash.
It was proved running
vzctl restore ctrh7.3--undump --dumpfile 'the dumpfile' --skip_arpdetect
on the target host itself make the trouble.
if you don't specify --online on vzmigrate (vzctl start), everything is
fine.
Target host is remote, such I can't say if there is a message on the
console or a "plain" reboot was requested by vzctl....
kernel used is (both side)
2.6.18-194.26.1.el5.028stab079.2xen (HOST under el5)
I won't complain about not being able to move "live" CT with RH7.3 on
it :-}}, but I would like; if possible; to have a better understanding
what could be happening (is there a really big bug hidden somewhere,
waiting to hit??...).
I suppose something is wrong in dumpfile format, making the catastrophic
reboot event triggered!
Could the list give me an advice about way to trace/pinpoint the trouble
maker?
Idea? suggestion?
