Thanks for testing the cross-compilation guide!

Indeed, it seems the last line in the guide

ARCH=<target arch> CROSS_COMPILE=$TARGET- CFLAGS=`pkg-config --cflags 
libprotobuf-c` LDFLAGS="`pkg-config --libs libprotobuf-c` --static" make

is no longer valid. Please try removing the command line switch --static
from the variable LDFLAGS since I don't use it as well while 
cross-compiling.

I think I shall update the guide.
